A couple British girls who had actually planned ahead and wound up with the itinerary I had tried and failed at... that is, they stayed at the same guesthouse in Zhangjiajie City, they booked the guesthouse in the park where I had wanted to stay (but wasn't sure exactly how to get to or book), and they hired the guide (Bruce Tian) I had tried too late to hire.

Anyhow we went to Tianmenshan together (so I got to hang with the guide a bit after all... you don't really need a guide for Tianmenshan, but he was still a cool guy and good source of information).
