I've had artificial crab many times before, but over on the right you will see artificial shrimp. I've never even heard of that before...

The dumplings on the left, despite somewhat resembling BBQ pork buns (cha shao bau) in appearance, were quite different.... very moist, such that you had to be careful that they didn't spill all over when you were eating them.

Update: I have since learned that these dumplings are called xiao long bao (steamed soup dumplings), and that they originated in Shanghai. They were indeed featured on the Shanghai episode of "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations."
