Hotpot with a couple of the guys who worked at the hostel (Urban Trails). The staff was really cool there... friendly, helpful, all spoke good english. I was rather surprised, considering that there were hardly any westerners staying there besides me.
I believe most travelers come to Chongqing for the Three Gorges boat trip (which I skipped), and thus prefer to stay near the water (whereas Urban Trails has more of a central city location). I suspect this is also why most people I met had a fairly negative opinion of Chongqing... they missed out on the real city. While there aren't many tourist attractions in Chongqing, I found it a more interesting city than most. Perhaps because the hills vaguely reminded me of San Francisco...
