Andrew Huang Class
These are songs I wrote/recorded/mixed/mastered for Andrew Huang's Monthly class.
Escape (samples, synthesizers)
This first project used free virtual instruments from the internet (mostly Spitfire Labs & Native Instruments Komplete Start).
The Box (home-made samples, synthesizers)
This song is made almost entirely from random sounds recorded around the house (e.g. wine glasses, microwave, pencil sharpener). This was the main reason I took the class.
Hummingbird (vocals, guitars, bass, samples)
This is my first time writing lyrics in decades and my first (and possibly last) time ever recording vocals. Also features baritone guitar.
Eleven [Rock Mix] (or [Chaos Mix]) (guitars, bass, samples)
Started with what is now the "Chaos Mix," but in trying to focus on bass & drums, I started pulling things out and liked the result. The drums are carefully programmed on the Rock Mix, but I played them on the Chaos Mix with a Beatles Rock Band kit.
Keepsake (guitars, hand drum)
An improvised jam version of a song I wrote, featuring Eric Crook on percussion. Guitars were recorded in a proper studio.
Control (samples, synthesizers)
Most of the instrument and effects choices came from a magazine tutorial, but the music is all mine.
P.S. (guitar)
This was my first solo guitar piece, written in 2000 (yet not recorded until late 2005).
End of the Road (guitars)
BE (synthesizer)
A simple ambient piece, completely failing to be tribute to Brian Eno.
Standing in the Dark (guitars, synthesizers, samples)
Recorded at about the same time as "Under the Influence," originally as a sort of joke techno song.
Under the Influence (guitars, synthesizers, samples)
My first recorded and mixed composition.
The Daring Search for Bob's Left Brain (general MIDI)
This song was written for a music composition class. It features piano, clarinet, and guitar. It was performed by real musicians, but the performance didn't go very well, so I'm just making the MIDI version available. Very different from anything else I've worked on.
Enigma (live jazz combo)
